"A man in a criminal gang juggles loyalty, betrayal, and revenge as he faces the dire consequences of a life steeped in violence and crime, ultimately striving for redemption for the love he lost."
The Story
The film "Black Veins" delivers a powerful message regarding the inescapability of the consequences of one's choices, particularly emphasizing how the quest for belonging can lead to being entangled in destructive and unforgiving circumstances. As Quinn's journey illustrates, even a desire to be part of a family or something bigger can lead to tragic outcomes and profound regret. At its core, the film serves as a cautionary tale about the pitfalls of loyalty to a criminal lifestyle, the irreversible damage it can inflict on relationships, and the quest for redemption that may come too late.
“Scars on the mountain” Documentary
From director Christopher Pike and Year 8 Productions comes Scars on the Mountain, a raw and unflinching documentary told entirely through the voices of the survivors who lived through one of the most devastating natural disasters in recent history.
When Hurricane Helene stalled over North Carolina’s Appalachian Mountains, unprecedented rainfall triggered catastrophic flooding and more than 250 landslides, cutting Yancey County off from the outside world. The devastation transformed the landscape and left communities facing unimaginable loss while fighting to rebuild.
Filmed with exclusive access and months spent alongside the community, Scars on the Mountain captures not only the immediate impact of the storm, but the lasting effects that continue to shape the lives of those who survived. The result is a powerful portrait of grief, resilience, and the quiet strength found in the aftermath—when the waters recede, but the scars remain.
Sean Antonio Lally joined Scars on the Mountain as a post-production editor with Year 8 Productions, contributing to the shaping and refinement of the documentary through the editing process. In addition to his post-production role, Sean was involved throughout the preparation and production phases, helping support the film’s journey from the earliest stages through completion. Scars on the Mountain marks Sean’s first feature documentary as a post-production editor and is set to premiere on Angel Studios on July 30, 2026.
